Isopodium News: Cows are Getting Big!

A closeup of two adult Dairy Cows on a dried and partially eaten Magnolia leaf. These isobabes are growing in size and number virtually every day!

Here is a closeup of an adult Dairy Cow on a partially eaten, dried Magnolia leaf that is next to my Mum's thumbnail to help give a size reference for just how big these isobabes are getting! While these Porcellio laevis isopods are a large breed, they are not the largest isopods out there: take a look at these Helleria brevicornis or these Porcellio hoffmannseggi!

This picture is of my Dairy Cow vivarium showing several larger, adult Cows out and about and living their best lives. These particular isobabes really enjoy burrowing just under the top layer of sphagnum moss and their mancae (baby isopods) really like hiding underneath the cholla wood on the left edge of the picture.

My Cows are growing so much that I may be ready soon to rehome a few of them for anyone in my community who is looking to begin raising isopods or who is setting up a bioactive enclosure for their reptiles, some amphibians, or crabs. I will let everyone know when I am ready to begin rehoming some isobabes.
