Decomposition Experiment: June Update

Here is the Squash/Pumpkin experiment update for June. This is decomposition at eight months. There is a bit more mould in both containers. We moved the containers outside the day these pictures were taken and are hoping that a few weeks of hot weather will speed up decomposition to try and get a late Autumn squash harvest. My mum says that they will likely be able to still grow a small squash or two if seeds germinate before the end of July, but we might have to redo this experiment and keep the containers outside when the temps are above 50 degrees.

As a reminder: We'll leave these closed and untouched, watching & recording their decomposition every month until only seeds are left. Then we'll layer over them with a bit more dirt, close them back up, and watch & record their germination and growth until it's time to transplant them outside. I'll post an update at the beginning of each month if you feel like following along.
