Finding Sasquatch

We go to the library every week. We typically go on Tuesdays and walk down to our local branch, Woods Run. But on this day we were also going to visit the Carnegie History Museum (you can read about that visit here), so we decided to visit the Main Carnegie Library of PGH branch in Oakland.

I really wanted to read some books about Bigfoot so, when we went to the library, I had my mum ask the librarian if they had any books about Bigfoot. The next thing I knew, mum was sifting through the pile of books pictured above! The library had 5 non-fiction books about Bigfoot!

A few days later, I got my PJ Library book for the month, and it was a fiction story about a Sasquatch and Rosh Hashanah (the “Jewish New Year”)! How cool is that! I read it and logged it with all the other books that I have been reading this Summer!

And then, a couple more days later, I saw this video on YouTube of the Adventure Agents making a mould of a Bigfoot footprint! My mum also showed me this cool book that we have called Monster Spotter's Guide to North America, which has a section on Bigfoot/Sasquatch (My mum says that if you buy yourself a copy of the book through that link, they will get a few cents, so like, you should do that, okay). It was like Bigfoot was everywhere, and it was pretty cool.

I learned that:

  • there is evidence of Bigfoot being real.
  • there are people who are professionals that study Bigfoot.
  • Sasquatch (“wild men”)is an indigenous word for Bigfoot from the Salishan/Halkomelem language.
  • the Abominable Snow Monster is likely a Yeti, which comes from the Tibetan language and is a name for a Bigfoot that lives in very cold places like the Himalayas.
  • there have been Bigfoot sightings in Pennsylvania, not far from where I live!
